If your checksum is OK then it's working of course.

How did you solder BDM contacts?

I'm asking because I've seen soldering with strange soldering liquid.
It was ZnCl2 (zinc chloride, commonly known as "tinners fluid") and what's worst...not cleaned afterwards!
So I got similar results, only partial writings via BDM. Took whole hour to find where the problem hides :)

May not be your problem however..

For everybody else who solder BDM contacts - don't use acid-based fluxes and ALWAYS clean residues between contacts.

Thanks - Seb

As I thought, but I was asking because the flashing hung (paused) near the end of the process, and only continued after I pressed ESC.

All my soldering is done by an electronics firm who make their own boards.

This is my second and I am having a problem and think I may have a brick on my hands but I will let you guys decide:

As far as I know I have everything hooked up right all my scripts work and run, bdm doing as it should but when I try to dump flash I get the "process complete 11 rec. read" really quick with just 10 or so dots. After reading up on the matter (every day and night for about a week now) and had believed it be a connection error between the bdm and ecu. I feel this was cause I tested my power supply (16.2v constant) and checked bdm cable and readings at ecu through the power and ground wires, all good. So do I have a "Brick" on my hands. I ordered the ecu off ebay 97 900ng turbo and it works perfectly in my car but just won't dump or flash. The two flash chips say "Flash" on them and my motoralla chip ends with a 20 instead of 16 so I figure its the faster processing one. Please help soooooooo frustrated :? ! I did trace every part of the bdm and all are good no breaks. And I am using the pogo pins but I even checked that with the volt meter and its conducting power as it should. Thanks ahead of time from someone who should have a stg3+ tune on his 96 900ng se turbo!

Not much help from me really - I am a newbie too.

But I thought the ECU's with the Flash chips were the easiest to Flash.

I had your issue when I tried to Flash a T5.5 bin to a T5.2 ecu!!!

Thats seems to be the same problem I was having but I didn't try going that high on the port speed! What Increments are you going up in? 1000 at a time or 100 at a time? And does anyone know the highest allowable port speed? I have a pentium4 1.5 ghz with 512 memory running on win98SE. Thanks and thank you truevip you have shed a little light on my situation :D !

we're all in the same boat here lol my max port speed was 59000 it told me there was an error at that point i went up in 1000's then hovered around 34000 going up and down in 500's i shall try going up and down from that figure in 100's and see what happens

p.s. i'm writing down all figuers as i go with a breif discription of the outcome

This is very odd - some kind of BDM virus going around!!

I had the same error message, and some others.
I was trying to Flash an ECU with AM29010 - 150xx chips.

I am not sure what the issue was but I suspect the aligator clip on my power supply was not connecting properly to pin 60 or 65.
I did get it to get eventually, but not without a lot of trying.

I can not be sure about that. I had done 5 ecus before this and thought I knew what I was doing!!

Always learning.
I am a bit nervous about doing my next one.
I have now got a 70 pin connector that i have wired to my 16v power supply

Go into your bios in windows and change its mode to "ECP" and try again. Your comp. is prob. set to "Standard (SPP)" and the bdm doesn't like that!

If you have tryed all the diff. settings with no avail then I would say you have a connection issue. Is your bdm and ecu hooked up to eachother right? Pin 1&2 on bdm go to pins 3&4 of ecu so the plug is hanging over the left side of the 8 pin connector if your looking at it from the front (plug side). Hope this helps, I am having problems getting mine to talk to eachother but am past the stage your at right now so I am of little service! :( ! Good luck and post your findings if you get it to work.
