Please post your BDM guides and problems in this thread, I will try to make a FAQ/Guide out of this thread if I get some more info and pictures :)

A very good howto regarding flashing with BDM can be found here:

Actualy i never had BDM connection problems (only the first time until i calibrate the timing).
However i have a lots of CanUSB connection problems.
Can we start a separate thread about that or move any existing one here too?

Cheers,

So I have now acquired a laptop with Win 98 on it. I have downloaded relevant files for T5, BDM etc and transferred them via disc to the laptop but a number of the files won't run I presume as the relevant drivers are missing? Is there a way around this? Can I get relevant drivers and load them on or would I be better getting a laptop that I can connect to the internet and loading on that way. The Laptop is an old Toshiba which I think used wireless but has no socket for a modem connection. Alternatively would I be better off using XP on the PC and using a flash memory boot up into DOS?
Thanks for any help

Holy macaroni

Take a deep breath and try rephrasing please. I have read your post a couple of times and I really don't know what to answer.....
I can't really tell what you are doing? It isn't rocket science to do BDM programmining and all the talk about drivers and stuff gets me to think you haven't read the manual....

Go back to the bacics and read the manual. Follow the guides and when you have read the manual a couple of times and tried things in the proper way and still have troubles then come back and phrase us a proper question and you will get an answer!

Sorry blowman
I'll slow down a little.
Basically the files I need to open for the bdm interface to read the ecu will not open on my laptop. The only way I have of getting these files onto the laptop is to save onto disc from the relevant site(Trionic mobixs.eu) via my PC and then transfer them to the laptop. I am assuming that WINDOWS 98 on the laptop is missing something? e.g. when I tried to read the ecu this morning I cannot change the port or the speed as I cannot open BD32.DFG.
I also cannot open T5 suite on the laptop as an error message tells me that a .dll file is missing -(mscoree.dll)?
Thanks
Mike

Easiest would be to make a dual boot or just run Win Xp and a usb stick with dos if it's needed.

You dont need windows.
Just make a bootable cd/floppy/flash drive containing the files.
Or you can copy the files to C: on this notebook and boot it in MS-dos if its win98 - just press F8 several times when booting - it should give you the windows boot-up menu.
There are no drivers required - the BDM interface uses the On-board paralel port which is initialized by BIOS.
All you need is BD32 and couple of scripts which are included in the package.

As for the T5Suite - you have to install Microsoft .Net Framework. I'm not sure which version - It's somewhere in manuals

I have an old laptop laying around and i have tried to run BDM with it.
It does not work with it, i have tried all port settings etc. Probably there is something wrong with the paralell port or some wierd internal thing in the computer so it cant be done.
I dont remember what error bd32 gave me but i came to the conclusion that the error was in the laptop.

Are you adjusting with a box that has failed can flashing?
I have had that too. I cant really remember what caused this, try to give the "reset" command, or maybe "do prept7.do"
I think it had something to do with erased flashmemories, but im not sure.

Hi

I have problem with one T7 ecu. I try flash it over P-bus but unsuccessfully. Now when I connect BDM and try use “reset” or other commands I get error “No MCU response to breakpoint”

I know that my BDM adapter is in working condition (with others ECU it works fine) and connected to ECU correct. Today I put new connections on ECU board for BDM, but result this same “No MCU response to breakpoint”

However I think that here is problem with connection. Maybe someone knows where each BDM pin on board goes? Or maybe someone have ECU layout?

Now I can see only where 6, 8 and 10 pins go.

Others guess what is wrong and decision are welcome :)

Hello guys.
I have some trouble whit my bdm interface.
When i connect my computer (running Windows ME) and starts bd32 i get.
MCU: running
Port: lpt1
Halt: ?
Reset: 0

but when i type "reset" i just get a error saying
***fault on port ltp1***
***no MCU resonse to breakpoint***

It dosent matter if i try to type md 0x0 128 because i get the same error.
I have mesaured the voltage of the ic´s and i get 3.2 volt. If i disconnect the cabel to the board i get 4.6 volt.
But if i turn the connector 180degreeds i get outher errors like "Target power failed" and "can´t clock MCU when in reset"
I have solderd a 8 pin connector on the ecuboard.

Any ideés?

If you're working with a T5 ECU you can position the BDM cable in 4 ways.... or is it a T7 ECU?

Just kidding, it´s not working for me.
when i start bd32 i´l get upp
Port: LPT1
Speed:3500
The MCU is stopped. Then i type "reset" and MCU toggels runing/stopped a couple of times, and when he stops the MCU is stopped again.
When i type in "md 0x0 128" i get
00000000 FFFF EFFC 0004 4308 0003 EA46 0003 EA5C
00000010 0003 EA72 FFFF FFFF FFFF FFFF FFFF FFFF
The rest is just FFFF
Then i write "do prepT7.do" and i get "ecu is now prepared for flash programming or erasing"
Next thing i do is "dumpt7 temp.bin" and thats taks about 30min.
Then i write "do eraseT7.do" and i get a message that "Flash should now be erased, give the command md 0x0 to verify that all adresses are set to "FFFF"" This part only take seconds.
Then i type "md 0x0" and get
0000000 FFFF FFFF FFFF FFFF FFFF on everything.
So far so god, but now.
I took my orginal file and transformed it into a .src file.
1249kb big, how come?
then i type "flashT7 saab.src" then i got

($10003A).................
Download completed OK - 17 records read
Programming of 16-bit AMD-Flashes
4: unexepted exception

It´s a long text i know but does anyone know what to do? My wife is not so happy whit me right now :o
Maybe there is some body in sweden that i can send my box?

>>Hanky

Use the T7Suite to transform the bin to .S19 file format and use that file in the flashing proces.
